When anyone travels for long distance, the music system of the car can be very entertaining. It is important for the lone driver to learn how to repair a car audio system since without music the drive could be very boring. There might not be any service stations in reach and with the help of few basic tools that are always kept in the car, it can be achieved. Some problems can be very minor and needs little effort. This also helps the owner to save money by not going to the service station for some minor faults.

Some tools must always be kept in the car in case of emergencies. This procedure will also use only such tools like the screwdriver, and a puller for the pulling out the fuses. The major problems faced by the audio system are due to the blown out fuse. It is hence advisable that few fuses may be kept as safety in the car always.

The first step after disconnecting the battery of the car is to remove the dashboard. This can be removed by taking out the screws that support the dash around the stereo. After it is unscrewed, the dash is removed and placed aside. The screws that were removed are also kept careful.

The harness for the wires which is placed in the rear of the stereo is disconnected from the stereo. This is done by pinching the harness on both the sides and pulling out. The cable for the antenna is then unplugged. This is generally black in colour.

Then, the fuse is pulled. This is present at the rear of the audio system and can be pulled with the help of fuse pullers. The fuse is then checked for any kinds of damage. In case of blown out fuse, it may be blackened. The other case can be a broken line that goes across the old fuse. In either case the fuse is replaced with new fuse.

The harness for the wires is then replaced and plugged back in position. The antenna cable is also plugged back. The respective screws are replaced. After this, the dash is kept back in its position and screws are screwed back.

By doing the above steps, the audio system is generally fixed. In case it does not get proper, there could be a problem in the fuse of the car that connects with the audio system. Using a manual of the car, the fuse box is located. In that, the fuse that connects the radio can be located with the help of the diagram in the manual. After that it is removed by using a set of fuse pullers. The fuse is examined. If there are signs of the fuse being blown out, it is replaced with new fuse.

This article on how to repair a car audio system discusses on two major types of faults that occur with the stereo. There could be a blown out fuse either in the car or in the radio.
