Self Defense Products-Your Best Line of Self Defense

Self-defense is the act of defending yourself in an attack by an armed or unarmed assailant. If you claim self defense in a court of law you must generally show proof of provocation. Self defense is a generally accepted principle dating back thousands of years.
Self defense products are nonlethal, handheld objects, whose sole purpose is to allow you time to get away from a dangerous situation and seek help. Self-defense tools like stun guns, pepper sprays, tasers and personal alarms are only very rarely used by assailants. They are very effective in protecting assailants without causing any serious or long-lasting injury to the attacker.
Some people think that small cities and college campuses are safe places. That is not the case. Small cities and college campuses are equally subject to crime, especially assaults on women. Seniors are subject to crime at a growing rate. They are living longer and are more active than ever before, which means they have a higher visibility profile.
There are many choices when it comes to self defense products.
Pepper sprays are the most common self-defense tool used in world. They use OC spray, which causes so much tearing that the eyes can actually shut. The effects of pepper spray can last as long as 15 to 20 minutes. Some new pepper sprays, have a range of a 18 feet or more but most are in the 8 to 10 foot range.
Stun guns cause muscles to work extra hard. The extra work depletes the attacker's blood sugar robbing them of energy to pursue you further. Sometimes just the sound of charging stun gun or a sight of flying sparks that a charging stun gun emits is enough to scare the bad guys away.
Where possible, I always recommend that both a pepper spray and a stun gun be part of you self defense strategy. Knowing some self defense techniques should form the basis for that strategy.
If you think crime only happens to the 'other guy', let me assure you the other guy is thinking the same thing. And to him you are the 'other guy.'
Chances are if you are reading this that crime has touched your life in some way or you consider yourself at risk. Take the next step and do something to protect yourself! Your life and safety is worth far more than the cost of a stun gun.
Stun guns and pepper sprays are not legal in all jurisdictions. Check with your local sheriffs department first before buying one.
